Whistle stop workshop: remote stop & recall This dog training workshop is designed for the family gundog—whether you’re introducing whistle cues for the first time or looking to strengthen and sharpen your exciting cues. The focus is on building clarity, so your dog understands exactly what is expected and can respond reliably, even at a distance. We will work on conditioning your whistle, establishing strong foundations for both recall and stop, and developing effective reward strategies that truly support learning. Play will be used as a key reinforcer, helping to create engagement and motivation in your dog’s responses. Throughout the session, we build towards a fast, reliable recall and a clear, responsive stop on the whistle—key skills for any gundog, but equally important in everyday life for the family dog. If your recall has started to feel less reliable, this workshop gives you the opportunity to revisit and strengthen those foundations. We will gradually introduce distractions and practice in different setups, helping your dog learn to respond consistently—not just in ideal conditions, but in real-life environments. The aim is to give you the tools and understanding so you no longer feel uncertain about whether your dog will come back when called, but instead have a reliable, confident response you can trust.
